It all comes down to competitiveness : Lets say you want to get your site #1 on Google Search engine Rank position ( SERP ), it might be hard or easy depending on the competitiveness of the keyword. Would you want to rank no.1 on the keyword “Car”; The odds are near zero. Some companies invest millions to keep the top spots on those income words. But if you want to be no.1 on the word “Purple psychotic Rabbit” then it will be a lot easier since not much people invest time trying to be competitive on that keyword.
So how many back links is enough? That question is completely stupid since its not up to the quantity of back links, but rather to the quality.A site with 10000000 backlinks could be beaten by a site with 50 backlinks. I will show you how to analyze the backlinks of your competitors, and see what you need in order to outrank them.
Tools to use to :
There are many tools that can analyze the back links of your competitors and give you a good idea of what you need to do, and where you need to do it to be able to outrank them on the search engine ranking page( SERP)
1. We are going to check our competitors on Google, for a certain keyword : “dofollow backlinks“.
you can see that Get-free-dofollow-backlinks is 7th position on the SERP for this keyword. His main competitor is Squidoo.com/dofollow. We will take that in note and the other competitors, and go analyse WHY they are ranked higher then I am, and how much backlinks I need to beat them.
2. Get the tool you like the most for doing this
My faovirte tool is SEO Spyglass, its a really good tool, even the free version does a good job. So I open SEOsplyglass and add the competitors URL.
3. Find the backlinks of that website
The program will take a look and find all the links pointing towards the site, this takes less then a minute.

4. Analyse the backlinks of that website
On this step you can add many backlink factors you would like to analyze. The more the better and the longer.
5. Analyse the backlinks yourself!
This is a important part, it will make you realize that its not the number of backlinks that count, but the quality. A PR5 backlink can be worth 500 PR1 backlink, so its really not up to HOW many backlinks you need.
You can see the final result of the analysis, what really matters in the PAGE PR, not the Domain PR ( which i hid). That websites has MANY backlink from decent PR pages and this is a reason its number 1. There are other factors to consider, like the IP diversity: the more backlinks from different IP address the better. If they are mostly all from 1 IP address, google won’t give them much credit.

As we saw, its not the numbers of backlinks, its the quality. I could have 10 000x more backlinks from spam bots on forums and blogs and still be ranked under that page. the PR6 and PR5 backlink and few PR4 is giving that website huge power. So how many backlink is enough? All you need to do is get more quality backlinks then that website. More backlinks from PR6-5-4-3-2-1.

Try to, at the same time every day, take a good 20 minute where you focus only on backlinking. And if you can’t do that at the same time, try to make sure you still do it a serious 20 minute a day.

Well you don’t have much control on that issue, at least not in a short term way. What you need to do is build quality links towards inner pages and keep adding content to site. Google will realize it is not a spam site and it is a good once and have it re-indexed in the fallowing months.
How to not get google sandboxed
To prevent getting sandboxed or penalized you need to give time to your site to establish, and geting indexedé (1-3 months). Do not send your website’s link to google then buy 1000 backlinks, google will see something is wrong, just keep it normal and everything will be fine!
